Phonotactics

Phonotactics depends on part of speech:

Phonotactic rules around syllable formation:

  • ‘u’ and ‘i’ have to always be the 2nd letter in the dipthongs

  • Consonant clusters can never start with ‘j’ or ‘w’

  • ‘j’ and ‘w’ can't be the final consonant of a syllable or follow a vowel directly

  • ‘ can be in the middle of content words but not start them. It’s also not valid for suffixes

Allowed combinations of consonants and vowels are also determined:

  • Allowed syllabic consonants: v, z, n, m, r

  • Permitted dipthongs: au, ou, eu, ai, ei, oi, ao, eo, yi, ye, ya

  • Consonant clusters2:
